The Tyler facility was opened in 1951, with funding from W.E. Stewart, a Tyler philanthropist and oilman, land provided by the East Texas Hospital Foundation, and operating capital donated by the Tyler Service League, known today as The Tyler Junior League. In June 1951, the W.E. and Lela I. Stewart Blood Bank opened its doors to volunteer blood donors.

Stewart Regional Blood Center's mission is to provide a safe and sufficient blood supply to the communities we serve. We are proud to be building on our 55 years of service to the Tyler area. Stewart services more than one million people, in 24 counties, at 30 medical facilities in East Texas.
